Angela Garvey was a speaker on Day 1 of the PACDEFF CRM and Aviation Human Factors Conference in Brisbane, over the 12th and 13th of September 2023. Her presentation, “The Unseen Hole in the Swiss Cheese – the Lack of Care and Support for People (and their Families) in General Aviation”, was breathtaking, and was one of the most compelling presentations I have witnessed in 17 years of running this conference.

 

Angela gave a heartfelt, frank, and honest view of her journey through the highs and lows of general aviation, and was so engaging that she received a standing ovation at the end of the presentation. The feedback we received was phenomenal, with several people saying they struggled to avoid tearing up during the presentation, and others openly congratulating her for a very memorable experience. The commendations were many, and without fail, extremely positive.

This year, Angela will once again be presenting at the PACDEFF Conference, with a follow-up to last year's memorable presentation. There is a substantial amount of interest in her topic once again, and with growing support for her cause, there promises to be a lot of people taking notice of what she has to say once again. We are honoured to have her presenting again and fully support her efforts to develop mental health, and other support processes, in the GA sector.
